How can I pay for furniture I order on this website?  

Pay by Credit Card

We accept Visa and Master Card credit cards only. All charges are made in New Zealand dollars. We charge your credit card at the time of your order via the DPS secure site. Your Visa or Master Card Statement will show the Merchant as "ANR Holding Ltd”, which is the company operating as www.modernliving.co.nz.

Internet or phone bank transfer

Bank transfers by internet or phone are usually the easiest way to deposit funds into our account. Transfers usually go in overnight if you set them up before 8pm that day. If you are an ASB Bank customer the transfer will be instant. Please contact your bank for more information about these services.  

Transfers set up on a weekend or public holiday will be processed on the next business day, which means the payment will usually show on the second business day. For example, transfers set up over the weekend will be processed Monday night and will show in our account on the following Tuesday.  

Direct bank deposit

You can pay by direct bank deposit through any ASB Bank branch. Your payment will appear immediately in our account. If you deposit a payment before 4pm we can ship your order that day. If you don't have an ASB Bank branch near you, you can visit your regular bank and ask them to do a transfer from your account into ours. This will most likely go in overnight, and we’ll ship your order the following day.  

Note for Trade Me buyers

We sometimes advertise our products on Trade Me. If you have bought one of our products on a Trade Me auction and are paying by direct bank deposit, remember to ask the bank teller to include your auction number as the reference for the deposit. This is the only way we have to link your payment to your order. If you forget your auction number, please use your name or email address as the reference instead.  

Cash

We only accept cash payments if you’re picking up your order from our warehouse. Please do not send cash in the mail.  

Cheque

We accept payment by personal or company cheque but please note that we will wait five working days for the cheque to clear before sending out your order. If you need your item(s) in a hurry, please use one of the other payment options. We also accept bank cheques and as there is no clearance necessary, we’ll send your order out the day we receive it.  

What are Modern Living’s layby terms?

Most of our items are available on layby. If you are unsure please ask us.

If you have bought one of our products on Trade Me, we require the purchase to be complete within six weeks of the date the auction ends. The first deposit will be 20% of the final price and is to be made within 5 working days of the auction closing. The remaining balance can be split into payments of your choosing over a period of up to six weeks.  

What warranty and guarantee does Modern Living provide?

We choose our products carefully and back the quality and value of all the products we sell. All warranty issues are handled by Modern Living Ltd or the appropriate New Zealand agent or supplier.  

Modern Living Ltd warrants our product(s) to be free of material and construction defects from the purchase date for the period stated. Our warranties usually cover replacement or repair of the product. If the item cannot be repaired or replaced, another model of similar or better specifications may be substituted. In the unfortunate event that repair or replacement is not possible, we will give you a full refund of the purchase price, but shipping and handling are non-refundable.  

Money back guarantee

We offer a money back guarantee on most of our products. A money back guarantee means if you're not happy with your items and we can't solve the issue for you, you may return your order for a refund of the purchase price (shipping and handling are non-refundable.)  

Products with a money back guarantee have it stated in their product listing. If you are unsure please ask us [link to Contact us].  

While most of our products have a money back guarantee, there are a few exceptions. Products that do not have a money back guarantee are still covered by any warranty, meeting all our obligations under the Consumer Guarantees Act.  

Your guarantee starts when you receive the item(s). You may return your item(s) within the time period specified on the Trade Me auction listing or Modern Living invoice.  

We will issue a full refund of the purchase price (shipping and handling are non-refundable) if you return the item in 'as sold' condition. This means the item, packaging and accessories are not damaged or missing.  

If we believe we have a product that better suits your requirements, we may suggest swapping your item for it. This is your choice however, and you can still choose to have your money back instead.  

Does Modern Living provide a GST invoice?

Yes. We include a GST invoice with every item we send out, which also doubles as an address label. When you receive your package there will be a clear slip on the outside with your address on it. This is your invoice. Please keep it safe as it contains our details and is your proof of purchase.  

What courier company does Modern Living use?

We usually use PBT Transport for larger orders and Courier Post for smaller items. Modern Living Ltd takes no responsibility for the performance of the courier services.  

We use signature required track 'n' trade for your protection. If you won’t be home to sign during courier delivery times, please arrange an alternative delivery address.  

How long will delivery take?

If we receive your payment before 4pm, we can usually send your order out that day. For payments received after 4pm, we aim to send them out that day but this is not guaranteed.  

PBT offers overnight service to all main centres in the North Island and to all main centres north of Timaru in the South Island (not including the West Coast). Courier Post is usually overnight to all main centres across New Zealand. For rural deliveries, please allow an extra day or two above the normal delivery time. These times are target guidelines only and can't be guaranteed.  

Can I pick up my order?

Yes. We are located in Penrose, Auckland, and you’re welcome to call in and pick up your furniture. We are open by appointment only, so let us know if you'd like to pick up an order.
